Wasted thoughts warrant correction.

"Think of freedom as an inward attainment, never as something to be gained from the outer world."

"Suppose you are out in the dark woods at night and wandering around thinking about what you wanted to do out there and you find yourself lost. You're eyes cannot penetrate the darkness where you could see it clearly as to how to get back home. But you have a flashlight, so you say to yourself, 'Well, let’s see what the flashlight has to say about this,' and you poke it into the darkness and get enough clues to find your way back home.
The light was stronger than you. That point alone is well worth remembering. Make it vivid in your mind that the light of something higher than me can do for me what I can’t do for myself.
Has it ever occurred to you that everything we do thinking it’s for ourselves is against ourselves? Wasted thoughts alone should be enough to make us alert to what’s happening and to want correction." Vernon Linwood Howard
