My brother, choose again.

“I Am Here Only to Be Truly Helpful”

…I should like to review a prayer from the early part of the text:

“Be Healed That You May Heal”

About 500 B.C. it was written: "It easily happens that a man, when taking a bath, steps upon a wet rope and imagines that it is a snake. Horror will overcome him, and he will shake from fear, anticipating in his thought all the agonies caused by the serpent's venomous bite. What a relief does this man experience when he sees that the rope is no snake! The cause of his fright lies in his error, his ignorance, his illusion. If the true nature of the rope is recognized, his tranquility of mind will come back to him; he will feel relieved; he will be joyful and happy.

Go Up The Ladder

'Yet not I, but Christ,' must always be the attitude of the healer or rather,
the channel or instrument of healing.

Henry Thomas Hamblin

"Love is the key to every situation in life."

"To learn this course requires willingness to question every value that you hold. Not one can be kept hidden and obscure but it will jeopardize your learning. No belief is neutral. Every one (every belief) has the power to dictate each decision you make. For a decision is a conclusion based on everything that you believe. It is the outcome of belief, and follows it as surely as does suffering follow guilt and freedom sinlessness" (T-24.in.2:1-6).
What is this "little willingness"?

Keep on going. Yes, we’re not there yet, but it’s worth the journey.

Today it will be given you to feel a touch of Heaven, though you will return to paths of learning (W-157.3:1).

Peace on earth—goodwill to men.

“The Divine Man, which Jesus brought forth, must be born into the consciousness of the Higher Self, or the Birth of Christ,” Charles Fillmore wrote in “Christmas,” published in the December 1919 issue of Unity magazine.

Strengthening the Mind's Immune System

What we’re going to talk about today is “Strengthening the Mind’s Immune System.” And I want to start by reading or quoting a line from the preamble to The Constitution to UNESCO. Many of you know one of the phrases, but I’ll just read you the whole line. UNESCO is United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which was founded in 1945, and the line is actually right at the beginning of the preamble, and it says:

Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed.

“Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed.” Actually, the whole preamble is very, very lovely. The Constitution, I think, is 70 or 80 pages, but the preamble is very nice, emphasizing in its own words—not the words the Course might use—the oneness of all people and the need not to see differences or to make the differences into something significant and use them as a justification for conflict and war. Again, it’s a very, very lovely preamble, and that opening statement is particularly nice.

Everyone is a frightened child who wants to be loved.

The Thought of God surrounds your little kingdom, waiting at the barrier you built to come inside and shine upon the barren ground. See how life springs up everywhere! The desert becomes a garden, green and deep and quiet, offering rest to those who lost their way and wander in the dust. Give them a place of refuge, prepared by love for them where once a desert was. And everyone you welcome will bring love with him from Heaven for you. … And under its beneficence your little garden will expand, and reach out to everyone who thirsts for living water, but has grown too weary to go on alone (T-18.VIII.9:1-5,8).

Sex is a classroom of joining (and The Myth of androgynous beings).

...the most effective learning situations are those that contain the most conflict, fear, and anxiety—all aspects of specialness—because they bring out the mind’s deepest recesses of guilt, which we now experience as bodies.

The true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas

Edited transcript of YouTube video presented by
Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.
An interesting phenomenon of A Course in Miracles is that at different times during Helen's scribing of the Course it was during holiday seasons, particularly at Christmas, Easter, and New Year's. As Helen was scribing and these seasons approached, Jesus was integrating the major theme of whatever it was he was discussing, whether it was in the Workbook or the Text, and integrated this with symbolism of the season. For example, at the beginning of Chapter 20, one finds references to the Easter season, in fact the first section of Chapter 20 is "Holy Week." When it comes to Christmas, there are two places where this occurs. One is in the Workbook, Lesson 303, "The holy Christ is born in me today," and near the end of Chapter 15. I thought I would read one of the particularly lovely brief passages that relate to Christmas. It is Chapter 15, Section XI, paragraph 2:
"The sign of Christmas is a star, a light in darkness. See it not outside yourself, but shining in the Heaven within, and accept it as the sign the time of Christ has come."

GRATITUDE

Transcript of YouTube video by
Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.
Today our theme will be gratitude since Thanksgiving is coming up in a few days. Gratitude is a major theme of the Course. Most of you are familiar with Lesson 195, "Love is the way I walk in gratitude." And gratitude goes hand in hand with humility which is another theme of the Course, frequently contrasted with arrogance. When we really feel grateful, there's a sense of humility, meaning that someone has helped us or someone has taught us something or someone has given us something that we feel grateful for.

"See the Big Picture..."

He that is within me is greater than he that is in the world. I can of my own self do nothing. The Father within me, He doeth the works. Therefore, I’ve got to sit here now until the Father within me becomes a reality, not just a quotation, not an affirmation but a reality, a realized consciousness.” Joel Goldsmith
Guy Finley explains that we have no space in our lives at all because there is no space between our thoughts and actions. But what makes us aware of that rushing nature is the essence of timelessness and space itself. The Real Meaning of Stop and Smell the Roses
It has nothing to do with the form. The form may have been epidemic, or the form may have been a depression, or the form may have been a threatened volcano, or a threatened tidal wave. The form has nothing to do with it. Once you’ve come to see that it isn’t God ordained, that it has nothing of reality to uphold it or support it, now you can sit back and wait for the Lord God to be upon you. So, sit still. Be still and know, and then when you feel this Presence upon you, your work is done. Joel Goldsmith
It is the Foundation’s underlying philosophy that A Course in Miracles has been given to the world by Jesus as a profoundly radical correction of the thought system of guilt that made the material universe, and which continues to sustain it. We therefore believe that it defeats the Course’s ultimate purpose to change his message or distort it in any way, compromising the purity of the teaching. Nonetheless, it is clear that A Course in Miracles has been written on many different levels, to assist students spiritual growth at whatever state of correction their minds can accept without fear. As the Course itself says, in the context of the use of magic in place of miracles:

Turn on the light.

Theological considerations as such are necessarily controversial, since they depend on belief and can therefore be accepted or rejected. A universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary. It is this experience toward which the course is directed. Here alone consistency becomes possible because here alone uncertainty ends” (C.in.2:4,5,6,7).

The real problem

God is not concerned with what you are in the sight of men — only with what you are in His sight. Vernon Linwood Howard

The turning point again is realizing you were wrong. Just think within yourself how difficult this is—how difficult it is to say this to somebody who is a superior of yours, or an authority in your life—let alone someone like Jesus who comes along and says: "My very existence in your life is showing you that you are wrong." Just watch how stubbornly and ferociously you resist that. Nobody wants to be told that they are wrong, because, as we have already discussed in the workshop, to be told that you are wrong about anything specific is a direct reflection of the original fear: I was wrong about everything. I was wrong about God, wrong about Heaven, wrong about myself. And therefore I am wrong about everything I see in the world.
This is a real turning point.

We long for Heaven.
