Religion and disease are synonymous.

 

Feeling it a duty I owe myself and others to define my position as a man and a doctor so that I may not be misrepresented, I take this method to lay before the public my ideas so that they, being my judges, can decide the merits of my claim. For three years, I have been in this city attending to the duties of my practice without interfering in any way with the world outside of my business. I have given my whole attention to the sick, believing that my method of healing is entirely new and unknown to the world, and my object is to reduce it to a science so that it can be practiced by everyone for his own good. This is the sole reason why I remain here. I seek no favors of any one. I do not write this to get patients, for I have as many as I can attend to, but to separate myself from all others who see fit to assign me a place among the humbugs of the day.

Perhaps the most unique and striking translation is Fenton's translation of the Lord's Prayer, which was referenced by Charles and Cora Fillmore in the Forward to Teach Us To Pray.

CHEMICALIZATION

A condition in the mind that is brought about by the conflict that takes please when a high spiritual realization contracts an old error state of consciousness.

THE INNER LIFE

Because Christian Science, the Unity people and some of the New Thought people have been able to show forth healing in the last century, the whole world is becoming interested. Finding the "I"-ness in you.

The harder we try to not create what we do not want, the stronger we’re holding on to the idea; thus, the more likely we are to create it in our reality.

How can we distinguish between what we can and cannot change?

God is the Healer

The Atonement, or AT-ONE-MENT

It always seems to us as if our viewpoint is right and the other viewpoint, regardless of who holds it, is wrong. No viewpoint is ever “the truth”. Your viewpoint is never “the truth", and conversely, the other person’s point of view isn’t “the truth” either. In fact, no viewpoint is ever “the truth” because a point of view is a belief and no belief is ever the truth.  A belief is a statement about reality that feels like the truth.  It is the meaning we have given to an event or series of events, none of which have any inherent meaning. That’s why you can’t judge the messenger. There are many teachers of Truth.

New thought was riddled with people that spoke of the Atonement, or AT-ONE-MENT, long before ACIM.

In 1887, encouraged by her sister, Alethea B(rooks) Small, Nona Brooks attended classes taught by Katherine (Kate) Quiner Bingham (1849 - 1913), a student of Emma Curtis Hopkins. This was the same year that Malinda Cramer started taking classes with Emma Curtis Hopkins. While attending these classes, Brooks "found herself healed of a persistent throat infection" and shortly thereafter Brooks and Small began to heal others.  Bingham had gone to Chicago to seek help for an illness and had been cured by Mabel MacCoy, another student of Emma Curtis Hopkins. The third sister, Fannie B(rooks) James, also studied under Mabel MacCoy. It was in 1898 that Nona Brooks first studied with Cramer.
