There is no reality except the one contained within us.

When you’re one with God, then you also tend to see the God in other people, whether they are treating you like a Daddy, a Mommy, a son, or like a mosquito! Connirae Andreas

The Two Pictures: truth and illusion.

Powerless Over Your Thinking? The Steps To Freedom

Chapter 13 is the longest chapter of ACiM. Ken Wapnick called it the heart of the course.

A Course in Miracles is different from some other paths. Some paths suggest that if we use the law of attraction our outer world will look different. The Course does not guarantee a change in form, but does guarantee a change in mind

Authentic self-healing must begin with truthful self-seeing.

When it comes to seeing the truth of our lives, the late, great author Vernon Howard taught those who would listen that "The medicine is bitter, but it heals."

The Silence is a medium by which man comes in a closer touch with the Infinite.

God's will for you is only good and nothing can withhold your good from you.

An inspiring verse from the Book of Revelation reminds you that nothing and no one keeps your good from you.  "Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut."

Jesus said, "It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

The truth that the Master taught and demonstrated blesses you, for it reassures you that no one can withhold your good.  The power to attract your good and the power to sustain your good is within you.  All good that comes to you comes by right of spirituality consciousness.

God did not create a world of loss, lack, or limitation.  Those things are humankind's invention.  God's world is prosperous and perpetually new.  As you keep your faith centered in God's truth, as you know that you live in a spiritual world of perfect ideas, negation has no power over you.  You see the good in all persons and situations and you discover that the bounty of God is omnipresent.

Even when Jesus asked a person who was requesting prayer, “Do you believe?” it is translated closer in today's language to, “Can you accept?”

Shadows

IF YOU HAVE THOUGHTS LIKE~

I am concerned about ______. I am afraid ______ will happen.
IT PROBABLY WILL. Lesson 26 ACIM

You HAVE to be congruent. The ‘persona’* that you project to the outside world can’t have any ‘shadows’* within otherwise you have a conflicted mind. You have to look at conflicting beliefs, thoughts and actions.
·         Are you ‘lovey dovey’ at church but a screamer at home.
·         Do you want money but you think people with money are crooks.
·         Do you want to do xyz but you think there’s a lot of competition doing xyz.
·         You want a relationship but you think all the good ones are taken or you’ll end up with someone with baggage. *Carl Jung Quotations: The Shadow and Persona

Surprisingly, the Christian New Testament may offer subtle insights into how the shadow can be detected and integrated. Jesus, during his famous sermon on the mount, asks,

‘Who am I?’

"We are here now, fresh and new because you don't have to be anything else but that. So be what you can be, which is very quiet, non-argumentative, receptive, human being who needs far more than you have ever found so far. What I’m asking you to do, is to start to take care of yourself and to take care of yourself with a new meaning of that phrase. To take care of yourself in a way that dismisses things rather than acquires them. But you find that hard to do because you associate dismissal with the loss of yourself. You will learn here and you must learn by yourself in your daily work that spiritual growth is nothing really but a process of loss of everything that you should lose fast and as furious as you can." VH

The Highest Good

In the New Testament, abba (αββα) is always connected with "the Father" (ὁ πατήρ) to form "Abba, the Father" (i.e., αββα ὁ πατήρ). It is thought that the word "Abba" might have been unknowable to Greek-speaking Jews and therefore ὁ πατήρ ("the Father") was added to clarify the meaning. http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/Father/father.html

“There is more eloquence in the words ‘Abba, Father,’ than in all the orations of Demosthenes or Cicero put together!”~ Martin Luther

Summum bonum is a Latin expression meaning "the highest good", which was introduced by Cicero, to correspond to the Idea of the Good in Greek philosophy.

Spurgeon alludes to the priceless treasure we gain when we gain the right to cry "Abba! Father! writing....

We need only sail in natural waters.

Back in the days of sailing vessels, British and American sea captains were faced with a peculiar problem. In crossing westward from England to Boston, the voyage was much slower than when crossing eastward from Boston to England. In fact, the westward crossing took an additional two weeks, which represented considerable loss of time and energy. The owners of the vessels carried their problem to Benjamin Franklin, who was Deputy Postmaster General at that time. Franklin, in turn, consulted a veteran sea captain named Timothy Folger.

Rowland arrived in Zurich in May 1926 and was Carl Jung's patient for a considerable length of time. Jung ended up telling Rowland that he had never seen alcoholics of his type recover until they became willing to commit themselves to the spiritual life. Since Rowland was a typical alcoholic, however, it took him seven more years of denial and misery -- as he continued to refuse to take Jung's prescription seriously -- before he met Courtenay Baylor from the Emmanuel Movement and began seeking a spiritual solution to his alcoholism.
Courtenay Baylor became Rowland Hazard's therapist in 1933, and continued to work with him through 1934. It was under the influence of Baylor's Emmanuel Movement therapy (with its combination of spirituality and simple lay therapy) that Hazard actually began to recover. Hazard was also attending Oxford Group meetings, but his family was paying Baylor to be his regular therapist.  Rowland joined the Oxford Group in February of 1934.  He took the Oxford Group Four Steps and started working with others.
In August 1934, of course, Hazard helped rescue Ebby Thacher from being committed to the Brattleboro Asylum, and three months later, in November 1934, Ebby visited
Bill Wilson in his kitchen, in the famous scene recorded in the first chapter of the Big Book.

It is NOT "Who's Right" but "What's Right"

This blog developed after receiving an email from Gemma Stone with this quote:

Jung said, "It is a bewildering thing in human life that the thing that causes the greatest fear is the source of the greatest wisdom."

Obviously his interests in “the archetype, the collective unconscious, the complex, synchronicity, The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI , a popular psychometric instrument), dream analysis and symbolization, Eastern and Western philosophy, alchemy, astrology, and sociology, philosophy and the occult” are fascinating but the it was the references to Rowland Hazard III and the Oxford Group that caught my attention.

The Muse of Automatic Writing

Hélène Smith (real name Catherine-Elise Muller, 1861, Martigny (the capital of the French-speaking district of Martigny in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.)― 1929 Geneva) was a famous late-19th century French psychic. She was known as "the Muse of Automatic Writing" by the Surrealists, who viewed Smith as evidence of the power of the surreal, and a symbol of surrealist knowledge. Late in life, Smith claimed to communicate with Martians, and to be a reincarnation of a Hindu princess and Marie Antoinette.

Cryptamnesia

Théodore Flournoy (1854 –1920) was a professor of psychology at the University of Geneva and author of books on spiritism and psychic phenomena.

Interested in philosophy and religion, Théodore Flournoy spent time in Germany to familiarize himself with the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, whose work he later taught at the university. After becoming a medical doctor, he was appointed a professor of physiological psychology at the University of Geneva in 1891.

His studies of the medium Hélène Smith were turned into a book, Des Indesà la planète Mars, which caused a considerable sensation in psychological and parapsychological circles in Europe and the United States. In it he described the phenomenon of "cryptamnesia," forgotten memories that reappear without being recognized by the subject, who believes they are new.
