I could choose peace instead of this.

"And when you are desirous to be blessed, I'll blessing beg of you"  Hamlet (III,iv)

The miracle does not awaken you, but merely shows you who the dreamer is. It teaches you there is a choice of dreams while you are still asleep, depending on the purpose of your dreaming. Do you wish for dreams of healing, or for dreams of death? (T-28.II.4:2-4)
Be lifted up, and from a higher place look down upon it [the battleground]. From there will your perspective be quite different. Here in the midst of it, it does seem real. Here you have chosen to be part of it.… When the temptation to attack rises to make your mind darkened and murderous, remember you can see the battle from above.… leave not your place on high, but quickly choose a miracle instead of murder (T-23. IV.5:1-4; 6:1,5).
“Put into practice, rising above the thorny and fearful battleground translates into being aware of what we are choosing: wrong- over right-minded thinking, making paramount in our experience the pleasures and pains of the body instead of having it be a classroom for remembering that we are always and only decision-making minds. It is important to recognize that the miracle does not choose for us, but simply allows us to see that we indeed have a choice between awakening or continuing to dream of sin, suffering, and death:”
The miracle does not awaken you, but merely shows you who the dreamer is. It teaches you there is a choice of dreams while you are still asleep, depending on the purpose of your dreaming. Do you wish for dreams of healing, or for dreams of death? (T-28.II.4:2-4)
Instead of looking from the outside in, we look from the inside out. In other words, we inform all our thoughts, feelings, and behavior with the mind's right-minded purpose. Since the mind is the only thing existing within the ego's dream of separation—the world of bodies being simply a projected epiphenomenon of the mind's decision for separation or Atonement, sleeping or wakening, attack or forgiveness—it is the mind's purpose that we need to recognize and identify with. This calls for a radical shift from self-centered satisfaction of bodily needs to the Holy Spirit's mindful purpose of shared interests, forgiveness, and healing.

The fundamental principle of A Course in Miracles, namely that the entire universe of form, not to mention the thought system that made it, is illusory—pure and simple—with no exceptions.
Deep within all of us is the Correction that, metaphorically speaking, God placed in the separated and miscreating mind when it believed it had split itself off from truth
When the ego was made, God placed in the mind the Call to joy. This Call is so strong that the ego always dissolves at Its sound. That is why you must choose to hear one of two voices within you. One you made yourself, and that one is not of God. But the other is given you by God, Who asks you only to listen to it. The Holy Spirit is in you in a very literal sense. His is the Voice that calls you back to where you were before and will be again. It is possible even in this world to hear only that Voice and no other. It takes effort and great willingness to learn. (T-5.II.3)

HIGH ABOVE THE THORNY ROADS OF FEAR
Choosing the Road Less Traveled

“Turn your mind and your mouth around, and you’ll turn your life around.” ~ Rev. Ike

"Men and women live under the crushing weight of two kinds of thoughts. You can classify thoughts under two different groups and they appear to be on the same level and they are on the same level as you will understand a little later.

One of these two sets of thoughts you can call, positive, they’re not positive, but they’re called positive, excitement, happiness over getting something you’ve been wanting to get for a long time, flattery that makes you feel good for the moment, these are all examples of hundreds of different kinds of thoughts that are thought to be pleasant, healthy, good. That’s one set of thoughts.

The other set are thoughts that are gloomy, depressed, defeated, that low grinding frame of mind, dull state of stupor, in which people live in unseen misery.

So, understand at the start, that these two seemingly opposite states of thought, are on the same level. Now you will do some work, by maybe for the first time, watching the endless battle between these two evil armies, how one will jump into your mind, the elation, the happiness, and it’s immediately pushed aside, knocked down, by hopelessness or whatever.

That is your first exercise of the talk, to see that there is no permanent central mental state there at all, but simply a mass of confusions and contradictions and there is no control at all. Outside events, agencies, outside people, what you see and hear sets off one of the two armies and then sets off an opposite to that so that the human mind itself is always under the influence of whatever comes along."

You are kind and loving. You do not like to be dictated to and you need not so be, for your judgment is good. This is your text: "Pleasant words are health to the bones." ECH

"Therefore, seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world" (T-21.in.1:7).

The well-meaning practice of beaming light, or energy, to ward off perceived evil, but also in its more "positive" form of sending light,  or energy,  to troubled areas of the geopolitical world or of individual bodies are supporting a belief in the ego and that we are separated from God. That act is related to guilt and judgement which make those things real. There is no hierarchy of illusions, it’s all inclusive. Wrong Minds, Right Minds, and Advanced Teachers
(I was reminded that bringing light in from the top of your head is the same thing. The seven rays of  Blavatsky and Alice Bailey are a belief in separation. They’re merely choices and you”re free to choose again.)
So yes, insurance is an illusion, serving on a jury is an illusion but if you have to renew insurance or get called for jury duty you take care of them. Morty Lefkoe calls these events and the events have no meaning, ONLY WHAT YOU GIVE TO THEM.
Shakespeare said all the world is a stage (a script or movie). NLP talks about disassociating yourself from the movie by seeing yourself in the audience watching the movie, or being in the projection booth watching yourself in the audience watching the movie.
Robin Duncan talks about disassociating yourself from any scene by going to the audience and watching the players, that you’re chosen, act out the script.
So from a course perspective you look at these scenes or acts or movies with the Holy Spirit as your guide. You don’t question the news and judge that it shouldn’t have happened. Like Byron Katie says “What Is Is”. It happened because it happened period.
The point of the course is that eventually nothing you see disturbs your inner peace and you become aware of AWARENESS itself as William Samuel would say. Jane Woodward implies the same thing in God In a Box. You relinquish the ego (Samuels “Old Man”, Woodward’s ‘i’ ). And it matters not whether you achieve this inner peace by ACIM, Samuel or Woodward. Only that you find it. We do not go from the self to the Self. We do not go from the “i” to the “I”. We slowly transform. We always have HOPE: I could choose peace instead of this applies t any and every situation we’re confronted with.
You respond from a place of love, showing empathy not sympathy. You still comfort a child who’s sick, or do what you can to comfort the elderly or the sick recognizing the belief in separation. And you pay your insurance and you still do your civic duty.

Mind Affects mind as Quimby said. Hopkins treatments were based on affirmations directed at the mind, not the body.
