We need to write out what we want, and not what we think we want. We need to be definite about what we want. We need to keep our desires secret, else others will pour cold water on them. As we keep it secret, then “our Father, who heareth secretly will reward us openly with the good that we desire.” This is a lose paraphrase of Matthew 6:6, “But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (NRSV)
