Why wait for Heaven?

What impedes your progress? Your faith in your ability to transcend doubt and lack of sure conviction in yourself. Fear! The past is gone; the future but imagined.
This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true. A memory of home keeps haunting you, as if there were a place that called you to return, although you do not recognize the voice, nor what it is the voice reminds you of. Yet still you feel an alien here, from somewhere all unknown. Nothing so definite that you could say with certainty you are an exile here. Just a persistent feeling, sometimes not more than a tiny throb, at other times hardly remembered, actively dismissed, but surely to return to mind again.
I want the peace of God. To say these words is nothing. But to mean these words is everything.
Why wait for Heaven? Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. The light is in them now. Enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all.
Forgive, and you will see this differently.
Forgive and you are freed.
Forgiveness sweeps all other dreams away, and though it is itself a dream, it breeds no others. It is a dream in which the Son of God awakens to his Self and to his Father, knowing They are One. Now is there stillness where before there was a frantic rush of thoughts that made no sense. Now is there tranquil light across the face of earth, made quiet in a dreamless sleep.

My mind holds only what I think with God.
Lack of forgiveness blocks this thought from awareness.
All things are lessons God would have me learn.
Forgive, and I will see this differently.
I will forgive, and this will disappear.
As focus goes so will Creation flows.
You will not find peace except the peace of God. Accept this fact, and save yourself the agony of yet more bitter disappointments, bleak despair, and sense of icy hopelessness and doubt. Seek you no further. There is nothing else for you to find except the peace of God.
You can ask for love, for happiness, and for eternal life in peace that has no ending. Ask for this, and you can only win. To ask for what you have already must succeed.
Peace is the answer to conflicting goals, to senseless journeys, frantic, vain pursuits, and meaningless endeavors. The way is easy, sloping gently toward the bridge where freedom lies within the peace of God.
There is no peace except the peace of God.
I am not a body. I am free.
For I am still as God created me.
This thought I do not want. I choose instead_____________________.
ACIM Lessons 181-200

One similarity to New Thought is “Thoughts are Things”. The emancipation of the general populace when they first heard of the New Thought was the freedom from guilt. We are all spiritual beings. We simply forgot what we are. So, why feel guilty. Be free. Not every one you know may be aware of that. It’s not our job to wake them up.
Maybe, it’s simply our job to be a shining example of how to live life and be awake.
Content and Form.
This mind has only two possible "contents" or thoughts: the thought of separation, or the memory of oneness with God. It has only one activity: the power to choose between these two thoughts. Once the mind chooses one of these two thoughts, the thought takes form. The form may be a specific behavior, a "thought" or a judgment that expresses the original thought.
