Healing #1

....healing is not a physical process but, spiritual realization....health is not a condition of physical well-being only but the realization of a state of wholeness in the individual. Healing is the turning from the belief in disease to the realization of God’s Presence and Perfect Activity. God is health. Do I hear you asking, “Since God is health and God is omnipresent, what is there to be healed?” There is only one condition to be healed--our misconceptions. NONA BROOKS

Is disease a belief?
I say, it is. For a person is, to himself, just what he thinks he is. And he is, in his belief, sick. If I am sick, I am sick; for my feelings are my sickness, and my sickness is my belief and my belief is in my mind. Therefore, all disease is in the mind (or belief). Now as our belief (or disease) is made up of ideas which are matter, it is necessary to know what ideas we are in. For to cure the disease is to correct the error. And as disease is what follows the error - destroy the cause, and the effect will cease. How can this be done? By a knowledge of the law of harmony. To illustrate this law of harmony, I must take some law that you admit. I will take the law of mathematics. You hear of a mathematical problem. You wish to solve it. The answer is in the problem. The error is in it. The happiness and misery are also in it.Your error is the cause of your sickness (or trouble). Now to cure your sickness (or trouble) is to correct the error. If you knew the real state of things, you would not call on a person who knows no more than you do, if you knew the facts. P. P. Quimby

To overcome is to come over from effects to cause; from the creature to the creator, and see creation in the Creator and oneness of the two. Being over all effects, as Source and Cause, is being Life or Lord of; this is dominion. It is true that I am hid with Christ in God; hence, my possibility is God’s possibility or idea of himself; and my existence is this possibility or idea made manifest; for beside God there is none other. It is God who says: Be ye holy, because I am holy. As God’s knowledge is all the knowledge there is, there can be no knowledge apart from Him. MELINDA CRAMER
The properties or sensible qualities of all the objects of nature, as Berkeley unanswerably demonstrated, cannot exist independent of or outside of a percipient mind. They exist in our minds as thoughts and ideas, and as a feeling which we denominate a sensation. If we remove from our minds, or from the mind of a patient, the mental image or idea of the malady, the disease will vanish as certainly as to remove an object from before a mirror will cause the disappearance of its reflected image. In proportion as the idea and the belief of a malady are effaced, it will weaken its grasp upon us. W. F. EVANS
To be truly healed and quickened by the life more abundant, one must forget the past and the limitations of the past, and offer every thought, every ounce of energy to Spirit, to be used in bringing God’s kingdom of light and love and order and beauty and health into the earth, into the lives of all people. This giving is not to be done in human consciousness and might, but in the realization that it is God working through one’s soul and body to increase one’s life and strength and substance, to fulfill His perfect plan. MYRTLE PAGE FILLMORE
Healing is not difficult when we once know that we are not trying to heal a body or improve man or change him, but that we are trying only to establish in our consciousness the awareness of the peace that is already there, awaiting our recognition. Then, let us take "peace, be still" for our Word, let us "seek peace" within us; let us realize the presence of peace in our consciousness. In the silence of the night when you are awake, realize peace within you. Peace is a great healer. Do not seek healing, seek peace; the healing is the "added thing." Joel S. Goldsmith
The Supreme Mind never thinks of disease. Disease was not created or ordained by God, or sent forth from him. It is wholly a product of separate consciousness; of the individual thought of man. God, the Formless Substance, does not see disease, think disease, know disease, or recognize disease. Disease is recognized only by the thought of man; God thinks nothing but health. WALLACE D. WATTLESThe real man is the soul or the individuality the “I Am”; and that part of man is always perfectly well; in fact, cannot possibly be otherwise than well, a statement that can be demonstrated to the scientifically exact. To know that this is true, and to know that you yourself are the real man that something in human nature that is always perfectly well, is to know the truth the truth that makes man free. CHRISTIAN D. LARSON

The question may be asked, “What is health?” I know of no better answer than this: It is perfect wisdom - and just as a man is wise, just so his wisdom is his health. But as no man is perfectly wise, no man can have perfect health; for ignorance is disease, although not necessarily accompanied by pain. Pain is not disease itself, but is what follows disease. According to this theory, disease is a belief, and pain is what follows our fears in this belief. And where there is no fear, there can be no pain - since pain is not the act - but the reaction of something. Therefore, that “something” which creates pain must take place before the reaction. P.P. QUIMBY

Disease is an experience of so-called mortal mind. It is fear made manifest on the body....Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind....Sickness is a belief, which must be annihilated by the divine Mind... To live and let live, without clamour for distinction or recognition; to wait on divine Love; to write truth first on the tablet of one's own heart-this is the sanity and perfection of living, and my human ideal....Reject hatred without hating. MARY BAKER EDDY
Your body is an emotional filter and bears the unmistakable marks of your prevalent emotions. Emotional disturbances, especially suppressed emotions, are the causes of all disease. To feel intensely about a wrong without voicing or expressing that feeling, is the beginning of disease – dis-ease – in both body and environment....The cures attributed to the influence of certain medicines, relics and places are the effects of imagination and faith. The curative power is not in the spirit that is in them, it is in the spirit in which they are accepted....It is not what you want that you attract; you attract what you believe to be true. NEVILLE GODDARD

In the midst of our sickness, we are Health. In the midst of our poverty, we are Wealth. In the midst of our sorrow, we are Joy. Let us see and acknowledge ourselves as we ARE. Let us claim our dominion and power and glory from on High. Let us know that we are not to be given a perfect body some time after we depart from this world, we are not to be given power and health and joy some day in the future world, but NOW are we clothed in the body of shining light, NOW are we crowned with that glory greater than the sun, NOW are we the possessors of the wealth of the whole universe. This is not human evolution, but this is divine revelation. LILLIAN DEWATERSThe healing principle is within man himself. Man’s power to heal himself, or extend his healing power to others, is measured by his awareness of God in him....All of man’s ills are due to his lack of knowing God within him. The perfection of God’s universe is founded upon its perfection of Balance....Love is the great insulator from every ill which can attack the body. Love is the great balance wheel or spiritual gyroscope which makes it impossible for one to injure his own body by emotions which poison his body. Every emotion of any nature which is not based upon Love poisons the body and tears every nerve to the extent of the variance of that emotion from the balance which Love alone insulates one from. He whose emotions are based upon Love commands the light-waves which compose his body. The most virulent pestilence could not touch one who is thus insulated by Love.
