When is a PhD not a PhD

There have been a lot of self-help and New Age books written in the last 30 years. I believed some, fell for some, rejected some and laughed at some.

After googling earlier I discovered that evidently it's possible that a few authors have PhD's from unaccredited university's. Now if I buy a book about "Energy Medicine" or anything else from someone with a PhD I expect it to be accurate. The credentials add credence to the book.

Maybe the publishing companies should assume ownership and check that doctorates and PhD's are valid and if there "ghost writers" involved? Talk show hosts should screen too.

God bless the internet.
