Part of what he's saying about the Great Shift is the ego's dream of making the world a better place. The ego wants you to believe you're separate from God.
The I AM is the presence of God and you realize (are awakened or enlightened if you prefer) that you are SAFE in the kingdom (Heaven) and never left home and are NOT separate from God.
The more you meditate on the I AM you find a shift where you're more at peace. Things or people that disturb that peace represent areas of forgiveness you haven't yet mastered.
It's not really a surrendering of the ego, it's simply accepting WHAT IS.

[Note: The Great Shift, The Great Awakening or Golden Age are not new. I see, now that 2012 is a bust, one person has already claimed 2032 (which just happens to be a leap year and not much else) as the time of the shift. I'm still looking for authentic proof of these Ancient Prophecies. There are still people that believe in Indigos (which relates to Synesthesia not auras or the seven rays) and Archangel Michael, a psychopomp.
