The Life Story of Ann Preston
1927
_O heart of mine, we shouldn't worry so,What we have missed of calm we couldn't have, you know!__What we've met of stormy pain,And of sorrow's driving rain,We can better meet again,If it blow.__We have erred in that dark hour, we have known,When the tear fell with the shower, all alone.__Were not shine and shower blentAs the gracious Master meant?Let us temper our contentWith His own.__For we know not every morrowCan be sad;So forgetting all the sorrowWe have had,Let us fold away our fears,And put by our foolish tears,And through all the coming years,Just be glad._JUST BE GLADBY
"Isn't it too bad that you have only your own present mind to guide you through life? Well, isn’t it? Isn’t it too bad that what you are relying on to make you happy, to make you comfortable, to give you a sense of direction, a purpose in life, isn’t it too bad that the instrument you’re using is not adequate to the task. Shouldn’t that be a clue to you that you should search in another direction for strength for, intelligence, for inner integrity? Shouldn’t that be a clue that you should search in another direction for what you really want out of life, for something that you want out of life that is authentically satisfying and solid? Now I started off by asking you a question and I wonder if maybe we’re going too fast already, so let’s all just slow down, it’s been a busy day, hah? You’ve been thinking tens of thousands of thoughts and your arms and your legs have been running all over the place, being very active, now is the time to slow down and pause and give attention to something that is more worthwhile than you can possibly understand at this time. Something that has to do with all of your life, something that has to do with your future." VH
