In the New Testament, abba (αββα) is always connected
with "the Father" (ὁ
πατήρ)
to form "Abba, the Father" (i.e., αββα ὁ πατήρ).
It is thought that the word "Abba" might have been unknowable to
Greek-speaking Jews and therefore ὁ
πατήρ
("the Father") was added to clarify the meaning. http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/Father/father.html
Summum bonum
is a Latin expression meaning "the highest good", which was
introduced by Cicero, to correspond to the Idea of the Good in Greek
philosophy.
Spurgeon alludes
to the priceless treasure we gain when we gain the right to cry "Abba! Father! writing....
Surely
if relationships to ancient and noble families make men think highly of
themselves, we have whereof to glory over the heads of them all. Lay hold upon this privilege; let
not a senseless indolence make thee negligent to trace this pedigree, and suffer
no foolish attachment to present vanities to occupy thy thoughts to the
exclusion of this glorious, this heavenly honour of union with Christ. (The Sword and Trowel: 1865)
Adam Kadmon
is a phrase in the religious writings of Kabbalah meaning "original man". Jung, who himself explored the Kabbalistic
notion of Adam
Kadmon,
held that the Primordial Man, is both the "universal soul" (Jung, 1963, p. 409), and the archetype of the self (Jung, 1963, p. 383-4) as well as the process of personal
transformation. He is man's invisible center, the core of the great religions,
and as the self-archetype, the psychological equivalent of the creator God.
From a psychological point of view, the spontaneous emergence of Adam Kadmon from the unknowable void is symbolic of
the psychological birth of the self. However, at this stage, the
"self" is far from complete. The Primordial Man must first embark on a journey of
creation, destruction, and restoration before the archetype of the Self can be
said to fully emerge. http://www.newkabbalah.com/Jung3.html
The
Revelation unites Souls directly with God.
The Miracle unites Souls directly with each other.
Neither
emanates from consciousness, but both are EXPERIENCED there. This is essential,
because consciousness is the state which PRODUCES action, though it DOES NOT
Inspire it.
Man is free to believe what he chooses. What he DOES attests to what he
believes. The
