Emma Curtis Hopkins ~ RESURRECTION OF CHRIST ~ 1893
One Indestructible
There is one indestructible substance pervading all
things from the remotest star to the nearest dust particle. This substance is
finer than any substance cognized by the senses. It is finer than the
attraction of gravitation, cohesion, disintegration. It can only be cognized by
the mind. It can only be handled by the thoughts of the mind. And only the
understanding power of the mind can make it useful.
He who by any manner of thinking handles this substance
and realizes that its nature is his nature soon finds himself experiencing
vital renewals throughout body and mind. He has begun the "animation of
the particular from the universal," an art earnestly sought after by the
ancients.
April Thoughts: James Allen
A
man has no character, no soul, no life, apart from his thoughts and deeds.
There
is a larger, higher, nobler, diviner life than that of sinning and suffering.
Man
is; and as he thinks, so he is.
To
live is to think and act, and to think and act is to change.
Man as mind is subject to change. He is not something
“made” and finally completed, but has within him
the capacity for progress.
Man’s being is modified by every thought he thinks.
Every experience affects his character.
Only
the choosing of wise thoughts, and, necessarily the doing of wise deeds, leads
to wisdom.
Thought
determines character, condition, knowledge.
'Not in a thousand years,'
said Roy R., 'would I have
seen myself as I really was, had it not been for a shocking experience. After
years of family life, I suddenly found myself outside of the domestic circle
which had given me a feeling of comfort and security. The shock showed me how
weak and insecure I really was. Fortunately, my despair turned me toward a
study of esoteric principles. I advise every beginner to also turn in this
right direction.' VH

Forgiveness: When, will WE learn?
Sunday, January 22,
2012 When
will we cease running after Truth, and learn to "be still, and know that I
am God"?
St.
Peter: “Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till
seven times?” Jesus saith unto him, “I say not unto thee until seven times: but
until seventy times seven.” – St. Matthew, 21.
In Warsaw, in 1939, a man watched as the
Nazis machine-gunned hundreds of jews, including his wife, two daughters, and
three sons. “I had to decide right then whether to let myself hate the
soldiers who had done this. It was an easy decision, really. I was a lawyer. In
my practice I had seen too often what hate could do to people's minds and
bodies. Hate had just killed the six people who mattered most to me in the
world. I decided then that I would spend the rest of my life–whether it was a
few days or many years–loving every person I came in contact with.” ‘—‘George

“I rest in God.”
This thought will
bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the
happiness you seek.
“I rest in God.”
This thought has
power to wake the sleeping truth in you, whose vision sees beyond appearances
to that same truth in everyone and everything there is.
In Him you have no cares and no concerns, no burdens, no
anxiety, no pain, no fear of future and no past regrets. In timelessness you
rest, while time goes by without its touch upon you, for your rest can never
change in any way at all.
I am happy and grateful that …

The intention of the Holy Ghost is to teach us how one goes to heaven, not how heaven goes.
Whenever, through our exploration of life, we come upon
some "seed of fire" -- some new thought or insight that awakens us to
a part of ourselves unknown only a moment before -- we realize that we are not alone. ~ Guy Finley

I would say here
something that was heard from an ecclesiastic of the most eminent degree:

heaven, not how heaven goes." Galileo 1615

How do you know that the world needs reforming and who is it you are going to reform?
And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
To mould a new reality
Closer to the Heart
Closer to the Heart
To be seized with an ardor to go out and reform the world is to
be seized with a sudden enlargement of the accusing instinct. How do you know
that the world needs reforming? Maybe it is only yourself that needs reforming.
If there is only one presence in the universe, and that is the Omnipotent God,
who is it you are going to reform? * Must be the ones who start
To mould a new reality
Closer to the Heart

Just as soon as you sit down in Jerusalem (the self), and take yourself and all your own thoughts in hand, you will
find more changed of heart and newly converted people appearing in your
presence, than ever you supposed were possible. What you have thought in the
closet is thus noised on the housetops.

ACIM references to the Bible
The
Garden of Eden, or the pre-separation condition, was a state of mind in which
nothing was needed. When Adam listened to the "lies of the serpent,"
all he heard was untruth. You do not have to continue to believe what is not
true unless you choose to do so. All that can literally disappear in the
twinkling of an eye because it is merely a misperception. What is seen in
dreams seems to be very real. Yet the Bible says that a deep sleep fell upon
Adam, and nowhere is there reference to his waking up. The world has not yet
experienced any comprehensive reawakening or rebirth. Such a rebirth is
impossible as long as you continue to project or miscreate. It still remains
within you, however, to extend as God extended His Spirit to you. In reality
this is your only choice, because your free will was given you for your joy in
creating the perfect.
T-2.I.3.
T-2.I.3.
. . . the Bible speaks of "the peace of God
which passeth understanding." This
peace is totally incapable of being shaken by errors of any kind. It denies the
ability of anything not of God to affect you.
T-2.II.1.
T-2.II.1.
The Bible
tells you to know yourself, or to be certain. Certainty is always of God. When
you love someone you have perceived him as he is, and this makes it possible
for you to know him. Until you first perceive him as he is you cannot know him.

When the Bible says "Judge not that ye be not judged," it means that if you judge the reality of others
you will be unable to avoid judging your own.

The Answer to Prayer
The course
states that its purpose is the escape from fear. Let us suppose, then, that
what you ask of the Holy Spirit is what you really want, but you are still
afraid of it. An individual may ask for physical healing because he is fearful
of bodily harm. At the same time, if he were healed physically, the threat to
his thought system might be considerably more fearful to him than its physical
expression. In this case he is not really asking for release from fear, but for
the removal of a symptom that he himself selected. This request is, therefore,
not for healing at all.
The Bible emphasizes that all prayer is answered, and this
is indeed true. The very fact that the Holy Spirit has been asked for anything
will ensure a response. Yet it is equally certain that no response given by
Him will ever be one that would increase fear.
Can you ask of the Holy Spirit truly, and doubt your
brother? Believe his words are true because of the truth that is in him. You
will unite with the truth in him, and his words will true. As you
hear him you will hear me. Listening to truth is the only way you can hear it
now, and finally know it.
The message your brother gives you is up to you. What does
he say to you? What would you have him say? Your decision about him determines
the message you receive. Remember that the Holy Spirit is in him, and His Voice
speaks to you through him. What can so holy a brother tell you except truth? But
are you listening to it? Your brother may not know who he is, but there is a
light in his mind that does know. This light can shine into yours, giving truth
to his words and making you able to hear them. His words are the Holy Spirit's
answer to you. Is your faith in him strong enough to let you hear?
GOD AND MAN ARE ONE
BIBLE LESSON XXXIV
Jeremiah 39
by Emma Curtis Hopkins
Jeremiah 39
by Emma Curtis Hopkins
Jeremiah
wrote this history. All human history is but the transcription of a dream. It
never happened at all. If the circumstances and events and laws and phenomena
of human experience ever did take place — ever were set going by any being —
then there is no telling what may lie in wait for us after this experience and
no supposing of What happened before this was set going. Also there is no
possibility of admiring or loving their origin.
Strict
investigation of Scripture and strict logic compels us to see that “as from a
dream one awaketh,” so may we arise from all this phantasmagoria [1] now. “Now is the accepted time. Now is the day of salvation.”
[1] a shifting series of phantasms, illusions, or
deceptive appearances, as in a dream or as created by the imagination
Who are you?
The
curriculum of the Atonement IS the opposite of the curriculum you have
established for yourselves, but SO IS ITS OUTCOME. If the outcome of yours has
made you unhappy, and if you WANT a different outcome, a change in the
curriculum is obviously necessary. Knowledge is not the motivation for learning
this course. PEACE is. As the PREREQUISITE for knowledge, peace MUST be
learned. Ch 8:
Lesson
79: Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. The problem of
separation, which is really the only problem, has already been solved. Yet the
solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized.
The
Holy Spirit's teaching takes only one direction, and has only one goal. His
direction is freedom, and His goal is God. The goal of the curriculum, regardless of the
teacher you choose, is KNOW THYSELF. There is nothing else to learn. As
you see another you will see yourself.
I

Inner Healing
"NATURAL HEALING: 'Tell us something about inner healing.'
'It is a fascinating and natural process which can be felt as it goes along. To the degree that self-damage disappears through psychic understanding, self-healing appears.
It is like the volcanic explosion on the island of Krakatoa in the last century. Trees, plants and grasses were utterly destroyed by the fierce blasts. But when the destruction ended, renewal began. Winds and tides carried the seeds of new life to Krakatoa, making it green again.'" Vernon Howard

years. He
founded the Wrekin Trust.

Rowland arrived in Zurich in May 1926 and
was Carl Jung's patient for a considerable length of time. Jung ended
up telling Rowland that he had never
seen alcoholics of his type recover until they became willing to commit
themselves to the spiritual life. Since Rowland
was a typical alcoholic, however, it took him seven more years of denial and
misery -- as he continued to refuse to take Jung's prescription seriously --
before he met Courtenay Baylor from the Emmanuel Movement and began seeking a spiritual solution to his alcoholism.
Courtenay
Baylor became Rowland Hazard's
therapist in 1933, and continued to work with him through 1934. It was under
the influence of Baylor's Emmanuel Movement therapy (with its combination of
spirituality and simple lay therapy) that Hazard actually began to recover. Hazard was also attending Oxford Group
meetings, but his family was paying Baylor
to be his regular therapist. Rowland joined
the Oxford Group in February of
1934. He took the Oxford Group Four Steps and started working with others.
In August 1934, of course, Hazard helped rescue Ebby Thacher from being committed to the Brattleboro Asylum, and three months later, in November 1934, Ebby visited Bill Wilson in his kitchen, in the famous scene recorded in the first chapter of the Big Book.

Is any among you
suffering? let him pray.
Is any cheerful?
let him sing praise.
Is any among you
sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall
save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. -- James 5:13-18
"Prayer that craves a particular commodity,—any
thing less than all good,—is vicious. Prayer is the contemplation of the facts
of life from the highest point of view. It is the soliloquy of a beholding and
jubilant soul. It is the spirit of God pronouncing his works good. But prayer
as a means to effect a private end, is meanness and theft. It supposes dualism
and not unity in nature and consciousness. As soon as the man is at one with
God, he will not beg. He will then see prayer in all action. The prayer of the
farmer kneeling in his field to weed it, the prayer of the rower kneeling with
the stroke of his oar, are true prayers heard throughout nature, though for
cheap ends." Emerson

He who uses his mind to curse gets the curse in
return,
while the mind that blesses receives blessings in return.

In all our prayers,

silence, a selah, in which the divine presence is invoked as the creative
power.

Vernonisms?
Vernonisms are special words, phrases and definitions which were first introduced by Vernon Howard in his lectures and classes.
What is their purpose? To make it easy for you to understand and apply principles of inner-development leading to self-enrichment.
What is the result? A new and bright world for you made up of self-confidence and self-security.
