Trust
I was talking with a friend last week. One thing we discussed
was developing faith. But, like William Samuel said you have to define reality
in terms that are meaningful to you.
Cady and ACIM emphasize letting go of your old beliefs. There
is no guilt or sin involved we simply had erroneous beliefs. Quimby defined
illness as an error due to ignorance of the Truth. How can we blame our ancestors
for not passing on the truth if they most likely didn’t know it either.
The “Mental Cure”, or New Thought as it evolved into, has
numerous similarities to the Mind, Body, Soul holistic healing today. There are
few biblical references in the holistic stuff. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
Anything that makes people healthy is great. But, ultimately, it’s what is
inside that counts.
My friend wondered whether everything she did to overcome MS
was valid and whether she actually had it in the first place. David Bush said
years ago anything is valid. What may work for one person may or may not work
for another. Troward said if it’s true it’s true for everyone. Quimby said if
you think you have it you’ll probably develop it.
So, people use external treatments and then they start
recognizing the connection within to spirit. But, that said, you ’ll still go
to the doctor for broken bones, pneumonia or the like. You’d be crazy not to.
But maybe, just maybe, once you determine your reality you’ll
develop the trust and the faith to become embellished in the Christ Mind as
opposed to the wrong mind or the race mind (Hopkins term) and stop the worrying and the fear and see the good and
live in Peace.
