There's a little book of axioms in mental science which no Occidental student has proved the accuracy of, and which no Orientalist yet wafted to our shores has been a living demonstration of, though the book was written in India no telling how long ago, and the faithful Westerners have been working hard at it now these dozens years.

There is one purpose running through the book, and that is to urge every man to get the strings on a singular apparatus called the mind. If once he can hinder the thoughts of that unruly engine and direct them at will, he has a masterly fine time riding over this globe. It shows that actions all spring from runaway thoughts if those acts are not easily controllable. For instance, if you cannot go without eating for six weeks or so without feeling faint you have attained to little or no management of your mental machinery.

Miracles and higher truths.

You need not strain and struggle to understand higher truths, you need only realize that you don't understand.  When you don't know something, and stick with that unknowing, there is no conflict.
And there is also the opening for understanding something higher. Conflict,pain, strain, falling downhill occurs when you don't understand something about life, but pretend that you do, grab your own solutions and call them higher answers.

Now, look at the amazing state of not knowing what to do with yourself and leaving it at that.  When you  don't know how to straighten out your life, when you have no idea of how to push away the worries of past and future, when you don't know that and stay with that, a fantastically marvelous miracle occurs.  And here it is:  What happens when you don't know and simply say, "I don't know," what happens is a falling away of falseness, of ridiculous effort, of vanity, of pretense.  When you are simply all alone with the fact that you don't know what to do about that difficulty, when you're all alone with that and don't fight to grab your own answer, the miracle occurs.  A spiritual change starts.

When you love someone, your internal representation of that person enriches you, and becomes part of the internal world that you carry with you everywhere. But you gain much more than just taking in something wonderful from outside. You also discover yourself in all the wonderful responses that you are capable of. You discover yourself as you relate to that other person. If they had never come into your life, you might never have known about your own ability to care, and appreciate, or whatever else you discovered about yourself in that relationship. Every time you take in something wonderful from outside yourself that is beautiful and true, you also discover more about yourself, and you become greater than you were. The more you have inside,

Understand totally by understanding TOTALITY.

Anger cannot occur unless you believe that you have BEEN attacked, the attack was JUSTIFIED, and you are in no way responsible for it. Given these three wholly irrational premises, the equally irrational conclusion that a brother is worthy of attack rather than of love follows. The way to undo an insane conclusion is always to consider the sanity of the premises on which it rests. You cannot BE attacked, attack HAS no justification, and you ARE responsible for what you believe.

 There is only one way out of the world's thinking, just as there was only one way INTO it. Understand totally by understanding TOTALITY. Perceive ANY part of the ego's thought system as wholly insane, wholly delusional, and wholly undesirable, and you have CORRECTLY EVALUATED ALL OF IT. This correction enables you to perceive ANY part of Creation as wholly real, wholly perfect, and WHOLLY DESIRABLE. Wanting this ONLY, you will HAVE this only, and giving this only, you will BE only this. The gifts you offer to the ego are ALWAYS experienced as sacrifices. But the gifts you offer to the Kingdom are gifts to YOU. They will always be treasured by God, because they belong to His Beloved Sons who belong to Him. All power and glory are yours because the Kingdom is His. (7,VII,10.9:11.6)
