are descended from the sons and grandsons of
the Jewish forefather Jacob and are called “Israel” from Jacob’s name given to him by God. [Because the tribes were named after sons or grandsons of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel after he wrestled an angel of the Lord, the Hebrew people became known as Israelites.(2)]The twelve tribes are as
follows: Reuben,
Simeon, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim and Manasseh. (1)
The Tribe of Levi is often not listed among the 12 Tribes of Israel. However, it is a tribe, but is set apart from the other 12 as “God’s Chosen Tribe.” In Hebrew, Levi means “attached” or “joining,” and is the one tribe that did not join in worshipping the golden calf the Israelites created when Moses was on Mount Sinai
.(3)
What Are the Lost Tribes of Israel?
Today, ten of those 12 tribes are considered to be the Lost Tribes of Israel. How is it possible to lose entire groups of people? To answer that question, we need to have a brief history lesson. Following the death of King Solomon, the nation of Israel split into two kingdoms—the northern kingdom, called Israel; and the southern kingdom, known as Judah. The tribes of Reuben, Simon, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Ephraim, and half the tribe of Manasseh made up the northern kingdom. Benjamin and Judah made up the southern kingdom.

In 722 B.C.E., the kingdom of Israel fell to the Assyrians, and according to Scripture, many of the Israelites were deported and scattered in foreign lands: “In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the Israelites to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in the towns of the Medes” (2 Kings 17:6). (3)
Twelve must have been a
very significant number to the Hebrews, for their history is full of the use of
twelve.
The tribes of Israel were twelve. The sons of Jacob and the sons of Ishmael
were twelve.
Moses built an altar with twelve pillars. The priest of the tabernacle wore a
breast plate containing twelve precious stones. The children of Israel found at
Elim twelve wells of water.
Twelve men bore the ark over the Jordan whose waters divided for them, and they took from the bed of the river twelve stones as a memorial of the event, and also set up twelve stones in the midst of the river.
Solomon's throne had twelve lions on each side of the steps, and the molten sea in his porch rested upon twelve oxen. The first appearance of Jesus in public was at the age of 12. Jesus had twelve disciples and there were twelve baskets full in the miracle of feeding. The visions of John are full of the number twelve. Twelve is the symbol of completion.
We find that mind is the cause of all material conditions, and that what we call mortal mind has created all the wrong or unpleasant conditions and environments.

PURDY PUBLISHING CO., PUBLISHERS,
There is no lost tribe
if I read the Bible correctly. You come down to the end of Revelation and the
twelve are named by name, and each is multiplied by twelve, bringing the total
to 144,000…those that are saved…meaning the whole of
man is saved. For it comes to the same numerical value of the name Adam. If I
spell Adam out, which is the one grand man out of which all come, then Aleph is
one, Daleth is four, and Mem is forty, and so one plus four plus four plus
zero…you can add as many zeros as you want. So in this great picture, it’s the
saving of the whole of man, so nothing is lost. He
told us in the Book of Isaiah: Not one is lost in all my holy mountain. So
there is no lost tribe, really.

THE ONENESS OF GOD
HEAR, O Israel:
the Lord our God is one Lord.
Hear, O Israel:
Hear, O man made of the very substance of God:
You and God are one and undivided!
Man, the world and all within it are conditioned states
of the unconditioned one, God.
You are this one;
you are God conditioned as man.
All that you believe God to be, you are;
but you will never know this to be true
until you stop claiming it of another,
and recognize this seeming other to be yourself.
God and man,
spirit and matter,
the formless and the formed,
the creator and the creation,
the cause and the effect,
your Father and you are one.
This one, in whom all conditioned states live and move
and have their being,
is your I AM,
your unconditioned consciousness.

The characters in
the bible are states of consciousness. Neville
The twelve signs of the Zodiac, the twelve sons of Jacob, the twelve months of the year, the twelve hours in the day, the twelve powers of Hercules, the twelve Tribes of Israel, the twelve gates of heavenly Jerusalem, the twelve pillars of the temple of Heliopolis, the twelve altars of Fanus, the twelve shields of Mars, the twelve mansions of the moon, and the twelve apostles – all symbolize and portray the twelve powers of man or the elements of consciousness. These powers must be disciplined and purified before man becomes Jesus the Christ. The twelve sons of Jacob are the twelve disciples. ~ Dr. Joseph Murphy
The twelve heavenly races in the skY are reflected upon the surface of the earth as the twelve tribes of Israel. The common notion that the twelve tribes of Israel make up the
Jewish nation is quite incorrect, as Israel means all life and the tribes of Israel are all living things. Israel is a generic term for humanity as a collective whole, regardless of race or nation. W hen this collective humanity is signified by a single term it may be called Adam or again Jacob. Both represent humanity. This is in the same sense that we use the word man to signify either one man or all men.
THE WANDERINGS IN THE WILDERNESS
The opening chapter of Exodus is devoted to an account of
the oppression of the Jews in' Egypt. Here again history becomes the instrument
of a secret metaphysical tradition. Egypt is not a country in this account but
a condition of consciousness. The story of the wandering of the twelve: tribes
is identical in meaning with the account of the Prodigal son who took his
patrimony and went down to spend it in the fleshpots of Egypt.
